Knitting and Comics

I am sure there is an interesting venn Diagram in relation to Comics and Knitting, especially up here in Portland.    My wife is a mad Knitting machine and enjoys some Walking dead.     She came across this article on Fiber Arts profiling Stephanie Brandt.   She is the publisher of Hand knit heroes.

Murderland

I went to the release party at Things From Another World for the comic Murderland.    Olivia and I  went and had a great time.   Listened to fantastic music, met some great people from Portland comic scene.   I purchased and read Murderland.    I really enjoy stories where the strong female characters.  The main character, a woman called Method gets involved in a mystery set in Baltimore.    I really like David Hahn's clean art style, but  I have not learned who the "Arabber" is yet.     I will pick up more of the series.

Walking Dead on AMC

Me and my wife are both fans of Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman.   The announcement of the Walking Dead TV Show sounded intriguing.   But I was unsure and I have been avoiding news about it.  But I guess it is coming up this fall.  I watched this video from MTV.   After seeing it I am really excited about Walking Dead show.  After seeing how involved Kirkman is and Darabont, the director, seems awesome.

Although, Olivia doesn't believe it will actually happen until we TIVO it.  We have been disappointed before.  I still think of the Preacher HBO series that we were promised.

Gannon, who is 7, just had a signing and sketches

My son Gannon, who is 7, just had a signing and sketches in Klamath falls at grandma's house.  I took him to see Mike Avon Oeming and he got his drawing book signed.    So this weekend he decided he would would give out signatures and do a drawing of your favorite superhero.    It was good.

I found an Manga I liked Pluto by Osamu Tezuka

I almost never read Manga. I read the description, it sounds fantastic. I try it out. I cannot connect with and give up. This happens every 6 months or so.

And then there is the Manga I think sounds great, like Lone Wolf and Cub. But there at 33 volumes to read. Yikes...I give up.

But I started my Manga Trial again with Pluto by Osamu Tezuka. This was fantastic. Without any spoilers. There was a robot murdered. And there were several stories about the investigation.   All of the stories were really interesting and engaging. Check it out.

I ordered the next one...from the library.   Can't wait.

Jurassic Park: Redemption by Bob Schreck

IDW Publishing  announced the launch of Jurassic Park: Redemption.   Normally I would have been so-so on this type of title.   But after listening to the interview with Bob Schreck.    I really want to check it out.

Bob Shreck's earliest jobs in comics was art director at Comico.  For much of the 1990s Schreck was an editor at Dark Horse Comics, and went on to found Oni Press in 1997. Then he went over to work as an editor at DC Comics, where he worked on the Batman comics and the All Star titles.

 Check it out.
